Monthly Favorites

January & February 2013

So my YouTube obsession has lead me to this post: my favorite products of the past two months. I have been buying and trying so many products over the past couple of months because of these beauty bloggers. My most favorite thing I bought recently is my Rebecca Minkoff handbag. Aghhh so in love! I have not purchased a bag since I got my Louis Vuitton probably 5 years ago.. that is an accomplishment guys. But I can never bring it on vacations and I hate to say this but I was getting tired of it finally! :( It is put away nicely in its dustbag for now. But anyways, this new bag is just absolutely perfect. It's a crossbody - which I've never really been a fan of but it is practical for my trip overseas and city living. I first saw it on kayleyscloset in her Amsterdam lookbook video and I knew I had to have it. It's so pretty and fits exactly everything I need.. a challenge since my Louis always held everything.

Next up would be my Stila "in the light" palette. It's kind of like Urban Decay's Naked and Naked 2 palettes but not so pricey. I first saw this on Zoella under one of her monthly favorites. I really like it and use it almost every day.

I have never used any skincare products for my face but after watching a few beauty bloggers talk about this product and realizing that I actually had a sample from Sephora, I gave it a try. I have super sensitive skin - to the point where I can't even wear sunscreen because I will break out no matter what I use. This hasn't made me break out at all and feels like it really cleans my skin after wearing makeup all day now. Some YouTubers say it's actually really bad for your skin but it's been working for me so far.

This hand cream was a personal discovery (a shocker, i know). The last time I was in New York City with my friend, we stumbled upon this place in Soho called Sabon. It kind of reminded us of Lush and was such a neat place! They had a huge basin in the middle of the store where you could receive a hand treatment using their body scrub and hand butter and cream products. It made our hands soooo soft! I ended up purchasing a small lavender apple body scrub and a mango body butter. I found a Sabon in Chicago the next time I was there and bought a hand cream this time. I was super excited to go to Sabon over spring break because I just love this place. Their scrubs are made from salt from the Dead Sea and it's an Israeli brand, which of course I gotta love. Anyway, this was my most recent purchase.

Fresh Sugar Lip Balm. I can't remember where I heard about this product but I want to say that I first saw it while I was exploring Sephora in-depth one day. It's $22 so it's definitely pricey for a lip balm but it's just wonderful. It smells so fresh, leaves a slight tint of color on your lips and really moisturizes them. I think I've already used half of it and that's pretty rare for me :O
..............................

Finally, this perfume from Benefit, Eva, was purchased at Ulta as an impulse buy. Something extremely rare for me especially since it's a perfume. First, I had to have it because of the name (it's my orange kitty's name!) and second because it reminds me of my very first perfume, Happy Heart, that I just recently ran out of.

March 2013

The first beauty product I have been obsessed with - thanks to Tanya Burr - is the Estee Lauder eyeshadow duo in Raisins. It's amazing.. the colors work perfectly with each other and it's just a simple yet beautiful everyday look and I love it! It's exactly what I've been missing. It's been going around the YouTuber community and I was convinced to purchase it and I'm glad I did. My favorite, Zoella, spoke of it here.

Essie's chubby cheeks is a nail polish that I actually purchased a few months ago and I forgot about it and never used it until last week. It's basically my new favorite color.. it's a reddish-orangey and I just think it looks much nicer than a bright red on my hands.

When I was in Chicago over spring break, I bought this eye crayon from TopShop and I got it because it reminded me of my NARS eye shadow/primer crayon. This is more pigmented than my NARS one and glides on much smoother but it is a more champagney color and quite bright. I really like it though for when I'm in a hurry or as a base.

The last thing in this photo is hard to see but it is Loreal's Super Slim eye liner in black. I first saw this on an Instagram from DulceCandy and found it at Walgreens and had to try it of course. I used to use Maybelline's version but this is so much better. The black is more rich in color and the felt tip is thinner but more controlled.. the only thing is that the cap doesn't click and I am always trying to force the cap in so I can hear that noise. I'm weird, I know. I love this eyeliner though. I just need to get better at applying it.
The two lip butters are discoveries from my beauty YouTubers but I can't even remember who spoke of what when, but they are now in my possessions. The Korres Lip Butter on the left is in Guava (I think?) and it smells soo good and it's pretty moisturizing.. however I wish I ventured out and got a red or a pink color because I think they would be pretty for a lip tint for me. The lip butter on the right is from Nivea and it's in macadamia kiss. This smells delicious. It's like a milky white hot cocoa or something I don't even know but I put it on just for the taste. It works pretty well, too. They were just released in the states so I'll definitely be picking up some more in other flavors soon.

I got this hand cream from Anthropologie because it smells amazing and works so well. I was using the travel size Johnson & Johnson lavender hand lotion (which is my favorite lotion. I have it in the big bottle with a pump and it's almost out anddd it's discontinued in that size) but I wanted something different for my handbag. I have it in the scent Giulietta and they have two other scents I believe.

The last item of my March favorites is this candle by Boulangerie from Anthropolgie in Coconut Macaroon. I have four different scents of these candles and they are by far my favorite candles ever. I completely used up the sweet vanilla & cinnamon one and repurchased another, which has never happened with other candles for me. These are the best and I'm constantly buying them as gifts for friends and family and everyone loves them.

 May 2013
I haven't been using too many different products for the past couple of months, especially this month since I've been living out of a suitcase for 2 weeks and I went to Disney, where I didn't even wear any makeup.

But I've just been dying to talk about these Bath & Body Works products. I haven't really got anything from here in a while, but I was out shopping with my friend and I had a few coupons to use. They had a deal going on where it was buy 3 get 3 free for any of their signature item products. My friend picked out 3 but she didn't want anything else, so I picked out 3 things and we spilt the cost and used my coupon! I love a great deal, what can I say? I have been using all 3 of these products basically everyday. The body scrub is amazing. It smells so fruity and fresh and is a scrub and a body wash in one! It lathers up with water as you wash it away and leaves my skin feeling extra soft. The bubble bath makes my whole house smell delicious and it makes the bath look like those baths on TV with all of the bubbles. It's heavenly. And for the body lotion, like all of their lotions, it's super smooth and moisturizing and leaves a pretty scent behind all day long. I've since then purchased another body cream, bubble bath and body scrub for my mom since she was using mine and I took them with me to Chicago.

June 2013
I still haven't been experimenting too much, but I have some new favorite products that I've been loving this month.

My MAC Eyeshadow Palette
I went more in depth in a recent post that you can find here. I've been using this every day and I'm so happy that I invested in this!

Simple Makeup Remover Wipes
These makeup remover wipes are great. I wanted to try these because I heard that they are good for sensitive skin; which I have. I really did like using my Neutregena wipes, but they burned my eyes and these don't at all. They feel really nice on my skin and don't leave me feeling dry or irritated at all. I just repurchased these today so they are definitely my new favorite!

Lush Shower Smoothie
I have been really enjoying this shower smoothie in Dreamwash. It has calamine in it so it's great for sunburn and eczema. I get sunburn all the time so this is nice to help soothe the burn and I also get eczema - especially in the winter. I love that I can use this year-round and it has so many other benefits as well. I also think it smells really nice.. which is what you would expect from Lush!

Lush Karma Bubble Bar
Bubble bars were the first Lush products I ever tried and they are also my absolute favorite. I love taking baths and can't take one without using a Lush bubble bar. This one that I've been loving this month is the Karma bubble bar. It smells so lovely. It's their signature scent and I don't even know how to describe it, but it's the best smell. All you need is a quarter size of the bar you get and you just drop it under running water and bubbles fill your entire tub. Just like in the movies.

Lush Celestial Facial Moisturizer
I also wrote more about this in my Chicago Haul post, but I really like this moisturizer. I didn't even use one before I bought this because I was afraid that everything would irritate my sensitive skin. I did try a NARS facial moisturizer and absolutely loved it, but it is way too expensive. I think it was about $60 for a small jar. This one doesn't irritate me or anything, so I'm very pleased with it!

MAC Painterly Paint Pot
Every YouTuber it seems has this. I wanted to see what the hype was all about and I wanted to buy one thing from MAC one day, so I picked this out. I didn't like it at first, but now I love it, especially when I use my MAC eyeshadows on top. It keeps my eyeshadow on all day and gives a good base to work with. I kind of wish I picked the champagne colored one, but I think I'll pick that up next.
OPI Nail Polish in You're Such A Budapest
Sometimes I don't even realize how much I like a certain nail polish until I rediscover it in my collection and then the next day I'm like whoa how could I forget about this color?? I love this purple nail polish. It's the perfect shade of purple and it looks really pretty in the summer.

July 2013

I seriously don't know how this summer has gone by this fast.. It's almost over, especially in Chicago. I'm definitely already excited for fall though! It's always been my favorite season. I have a few products from the month of July that I have been loving.

Soap & Glory Heel Genius
Oh, Chicago how you've ruined my feet! I've had blisters on my feet since the day I got here and keep getting new ones and my feet are just worn out already. I feel so bad for them! I got this because I've heard so many great things about it and everything from soap and glory smells amazing. I really like this stuff and I think it's helping!
Lush foot scrub
This stuff is so cool! You just break off a piece and get it wet and it fizzes and has a cooling sensation that feels so good!
Lush ocean salt
I can't remember if I've talked about this before or not but it is a scrub for your face to help clear pores. I think. I just put it over my nose and areas where I get blackheads and it lathers up nicely and smells just like the ocean. I'm always afraid to put products on my face because I'm so sensitive but this hasn't irritated my skin at all! I've been very impressed with Lush lately.
iPhone backup charger from J Crew
Literally a life saver. My phone dies every single day, so this helps me make it at least until I get home. And it's leopard print and I got in on sale with an extra 25% off I believe, so it was a really great deal!
Whole Foods cookies
These are the most addicting cookies ever. They're way better than Oreos and I've gone through um 3 packages.. whoops. I have an extremely bad sweet tooth.
Ladybug Ring
I got this from Topshop for about $9 I believe and it's actually supposed to be one of those midi rings.. but I have tiny fingers so it fits me as a regular ring! Midi rings are my favorite trend of ALL time because I can finally wear rings!! I wear this one every single day and I'm obsessed.
